Community Gathers for a Blooming Great Tea Party

MSP for Edinburgh Pentlands has teamed up with Marie Curie to fundraise for the charity’s care and support by hosting a “Blooming Great Tea Party”, in his constituency office. Inspired by a growing love of baking, the Blooming Great Tea Party, is part of a campaign by Marie Curie that encourages people to get together with family, friends, or colleagues to serve cakes and cuppas to raise funds for people living with a terminal illness. The funds raised helps Marie Curie to employ nurses to provide care in people’s own homes, when they need it the most, day or night. Tuesday 17 July, Member of The Scottish Parliament Gordon MacDonald will see first-hand the innovative research taking place to find life-changing treatments for dementia when he tours the Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. As part of this tour, the MSP for Edinburgh Pentlands will visit with Dr Jill Fowler, an Alzheimer’s Research UK Senior Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. Council To Impliment Framework For families Of Missing People

Gordon Macdonald, MSP for Edinburgh Pentlands, is calling on the Chief Executive of the City of Edinburgh Council to implement the National Missing Persons Framework for Scotland. The Scottish Government launched this new framework in April 2017 which included guidance on support for families, as well as laying out responsibilities for professionals to support missing children and adults. According to the missing persons’ charity, Missing People, the framework’s success will depend on local partnerships taking forward the recommendations.
