98.5% Households In Capital Connected To Superfast Broadband

Local MSP Gordon MacDonald has welcomed new figures that show a huge boost to connectivity in the City of Edinburgh, thanks to significant investment from the SNP Government. According to the latest coverage statistics from Thinkbroadband, 98.5% of properties in Edinburgh are now connected to superfast broadband – a 8% rise from 2014 when only 90.5% of properties were connected to internet speeds of at least 30Mbps. SNP MSP Gordon MacDonald has urged people in the capital to download the new ‘Protect Scotland’ app - to help slow the spread of Coronavirus and support the easing of lockdown restrictions. The app can be downloaded onto phones and will let users know if they have come into close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19. Edinburgh Pentlands MSP, Gordon MacDonald, has today called on Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government to take action to tackle “dirty camping” in the Pentland Hills. In debate about Dirty Camping, Gordon MacDonald called on the Edinburgh Council to use their £5 million allocation of The Scottish Government’s Spaces for People funding to provide a path to the Pentlands from Balerno.
