NHS Lothian Again Hits Four Hour A&E Target

Latest statistics have revealed that NHS Scotland has again hit its four hour A&E target in June – with 95.5% of patients seen, admitted or discharged within four hours throughout the month.

The most recent data for NHS Scotland shows that 95.7% of patients in NHS Lothian’s emergency departments were seen, admitted or discharged within four hours in June – beating the 95% target and up from the 94% achieved in May.

Scottish hospitals have now had the best performing emergency departments in the UK for more than two years, according to the most recently available figures – and figures for NHS Lothian for the week ending 23rd July show that over 97.1% of patients were seen within four hours.

Commenting, SNP MSP Gordon Macdonald for Edinburgh Pentlands said, “Scotland has had the best performing emergency departments in the UK for more than two years – which is testament to the hard work of our NHS and social care workers.

“It is extremely encouraging that Emergency Departments in NHS Lothian are meeting the four hour waiting times target, with the latest figures published showing that 97.1% of patients are being seen within four hours – and the figures for June show that Scotland’s NHS is performing very strongly, with over 95% of patients across the country being seen within four hours throughout the month.
