Gordon Macdonald has backed the Scottish Government’s commitment to stimulate the economy with new infrastructure funding in the wake of the EU referendum. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced an additional £100m of funding in this financial year to speed up the delivery of health and other infrastructure projects – as well as the establishment of a new service to provide information and support to businesses affected by the EU referendum. Projects will be assessed for accelerated funding against a range of criteria including how quickly work can start, the number of jobs that will be supported or created, the likely impact on the supply chain and geographic spread. Also, nationally, Scottish accident and emergency performance has remained better than elsewhere in the UK for the last 15 months of published data, from March 2015 to May 2016. Local SNP MSP Gordon Macdonald welcomed these results stating: “Across the Lothians, staff in our NHS have been working hard to provide care to patients who need it. Their efforts have clearly paid off as can be seen in the June A&E waiting time figures. “The Scottish Government have set

Gordon Macdonald MSP commented, “As noted by the community council, they are not aware of the community ever being encouraged to give their views about how their community should develop. It is commendable that Balerno Community Council are being pro-active and taking the initiative to shape how their community develops. This will also give the voice of the Community Council extra weight when dealin
